Nodebuster is a pretty straightforward, almost-like clicker/idle game. I wouldn’t say it fits neatly into either category since you need to keep an active mouse throughout the game.
I completed Nodebuster in about 7.5 hours (on Steam), hitting 100% completion along the way. That might not sound like much, but every minute of it was enjoyable. The game offers a steady, satisfying progression of unlockable upgrades every few levels that keeps you engaged. The gameplay loop is well-tuned, and each new upgrade feels “noice”!
The visuals in Nodebuster aren’t anything to write home about—just basic solid colors with nothing fancy—but there’s charm in that simplicity. Some shader effects even lend it a nostalgic feel.
The only slightly boring part of the game is the final stretch. Towards the higher levels, it becomes harder to notice a significant power shift. At that point, the gameplay loop feels a bit flatter, but it doesn’t drag on long enough to ruin the experience.
At only €2.99, in my opinion, it’s a no-brainer. It’s a solid effort from an indie developer that delivers fun, focus, and a super addictive gameplay loop. This game definitely gets my JAJA stamp of approval!
